Dolce & Gabbana just launched a collaboration with the Brazilian brand Havaianas.
Dolce&Gabbana and Havaianas, the Brazilian brand famous for their flip-flops, are launching a capsule-collection collab this week worldwide. There are four different models of Havaianas with classic D&G prints (leopard, zebra, and florals), details in velvet, and special pearly and metallic pins.
“Being part of people’s lives again is a must for us. […] Flip-flops are super on trend, so we need to ride this wave,” said Maria Fernanda Albuquerque, vice president of global marketing at Havaianas’ parent company Alpargatas SA.
Havaianas has collaborated with other international luxury brands in the past, such as Missoni in 2011 and Yves Saint Laurent in 2019. The Brazilian brand recorded an almost 9% increase in profit in the first quarter of 2024, with sales rising by 3% between 2023 and 2024.
“Havaianas goes beyond footwear because it is a brand that has a strong emotional connection with people, is part of the culture of Brazilians, and resonates in the wardrobes and habits of many, in our country and around the world, as an expression of style, lightness, and freedom. With the launch of this collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, we are strengthening the brand’s positioning in the fashion world and elevating it to new heights and audiences,” commented Maria Fernanda de Albuquerque, vice president of Havaianas’ global marketing.

Christina Martini, the co-founder and designer of Ancient Greek Sandals, mentioned that flip-flops somehow make you look cooler, similar to wearing an evening dress with flip-flops. She noted that this trend has been seen a lot lately, creating a demand for it.
Trendalytics reported a 12 percent increase in searches for thong sandals in May. With rising temperatures, more people are likely to reassess their sandal wardrobe.
