2024 Denim Trends Fresh Off the Runway: What’s Hot This Year

Denim pants are in everyone’s daily wardrobe. Having evolved beyond their traditional role as casual wear, jeans have seamlessly integrated into various fashion realms, showcasing their adaptability across different contexts. Recently, we saw Kaia Gerber open Valentino’s Fall/Winter 2023 haute couture runway wearing jeans and a white shirt, a look completely unexpected for these couture collections.

From classic to contemporary, denim pants transition effortlessly between styles, demonstrating an unmatched ability to blend with diverse aesthetics.

This year, we will see a lot of denim styles featuring pants with creases, darts, pintucks, and pleats. In Sabato de Sarno’s debut at Gucci last season, pleated jeans were featured on the runway, as were those from Tibi.

Wide-leg jeans remain a trend in 2024. This baggy model offers a nod to the fashion eras of the ’70s and ’90s, blending nostalgia with a modern twist. Loewe and Gucci’s spring/summer 2024 ready-to-wear collection brought wide-leg pants to the runway.

When Miu Miu selects a specific piece for the runway, we already know it’s going to become a trend – at least that’s what has happened in the past few fashion seasons. This year, the must-have item highlighted by the Italian brand is timeless dark blue jeans. Helmut Lang also showcased dark blue jeans in its Spring/Summer 2024 collection, marking the first collection under Peter Do as the brand’s creative director, further proving that this jean color is here to stay.
