Aluf, led by designer Ana Luísa Fernandes, opened São Paulo Fashion Week N59 on Sunday night (April 6th) with a show that beautifully blended lyricism and creativity. Set in a magical atmosphere, the presentation brought elements of the circus universe to the runway — without falling into clichés. The spectacle began with a lively performance by the Cola Sisters, twin jugglers, accompanied by the vibrant sounds of Las Fanfarronas, an all-women marching band.

The first look set the tone for the collection: a strapless romper worn beneath a structured petticoat, its fabric surface manipulated into delicate ruffles, emphasizing the brand’s signature artisanal craftsmanship. Titled Malabares (“Juggling”), the collection draws from the vintage circus imagination with subtle references — spherical buttons reminiscent of clown noses, voluminous pierrot collars, and dramatic skirts echoing the costumes of romantic columbines.

Despite the playful inspiration, Ana Luísa remained committed to designing clothes for women’s real, everyday lives. She introduced more versatile and lightweight pieces, such as tank tops styled with fashion-forward twists and a fresh lineup of denim — now with a mom-jeans cut, high waist, and tapered legs. For warmer climates, the collection features chiffon blouses, micro tops, and delicate slip dresses.

Color also marks an important evolution for the brand. While Aluf was once known for its predominantly light-toned palette, deep hues like burgundy, brown, and navy now enrich the collection, adding depth without losing the brand’s signature softness.

Another highlight is the introduction of intricate embroidery: for the first time, Ana Luísa incorporated glass beads into jacquard pieces, some weighing up to 4 kilograms — a painstaking process that further underscores Aluf’s artisanal DNA.

With seven years of history, Ana Luísa shows her maturity both as a creative force and as a businesswoman, balancing aesthetic sophistication with commercial savvy. This evolution was already evident in her previous collection, Prosopopéia, which was inspired by a cathartic experience during a concert at Sala São Paulo. Influenced by Dutch Baroque and the concept of art as emotional expression, she collaborated with AI to develop prints, partnered with designers to create jewelry and hats, and formed alliances for handbags and shoes — all with female-led brands like Nohma, Luisa Schröder, and Matilda. At SPFW N59, Aluf reaffirms its commitment to moving, innovating, and dressing contemporary women with pieces that, though born from dreams, fit seamlessly into real life. In every detail — from the intricate embroidery to the sculpted silhouettes — Ana Luísa Fernandes proves that fashion is indeed art, and art, above all, is emotion.
