The newest collection designed by Virginie Viard nods to sports
The Chanel cruise 2025 fashion show was presented this Thursday (2nd), in Marseille, France. The runway was staged at the Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse building. Marseille is known for hosting Olympic sailing contests and the soccer tournament, will showcase France beyond Paris in July,
“The collection imagined by Virginie Viard combines an underwater reverie with reflections of the sun through embroideries, diving hoods, sequinned jackets and swimwear”, say the brand notes.
The city’s connection with sports was a reference to Virginie Viard, Chanel’s creative director, that came up developing a hooded white scuba suit, adorned with a signature black bow. This nod to athleticism was further emphasized by a gray sweatshirt peeking out from a vibrant green tweed jacket and sleek black “scuba tuxedo” shoes.
The show’s palette mirrored the city’s hues, with pastels, grays, metallics, and seaside motifs dancing through the collection. There were 76 looks, mostly in tweed, crochet, denim, and lace.
