This is Sabato De Sarno’s first resort collection as creative director of Gucci

“Englishness with an Italian Accent – Gucci presented the Cruise 2025 collection this Monday (13th) in London. This marked Sabato De Sarno’s first resort collection for the Italian label, which took place at the Tate Modern museum.

“We chose London for the Cruise show, knowing it was the right choice. I owe a lot to this city; it has welcomed and listened to me. The same is true for Gucci, whose founder was inspired by his experiences there. The House’s return is driven by a desire to immerse itself in its distinctive essence and creative driving force, with its limitless capacity to blend contrasts, facilitate dialogue, and find ways to coexist,” said De Sarno in a statement.

According to Gucci’s Cruise 2025, boho is back! The collection showcased dichotomies: rigor and extravagance, strength and delicacy. Outerwear contrasted with chiffon, lace, and ruffles. Coats were tailored with sharp precision, and flower embroideries adorned much of the show – along with relaxed denim and equestrian motifs. Oh, and flat shoes were a must: ballerinas and creepers.

Caramel, cherry red (or Gucci Ancora red), pastel, and neutral tones dominated the runway. Transparency and asymmetrical shapes were also prominent features.”

“Fashion design is a means to study, explore, and interpret. After expressing my ideas of desirability and sensuality, this collection reveals another facet of me—more romantic, more contradictory. I enjoy taking something that we think we know, breaking away from its rules, and pushing it as far as it can go without distorting it. I strive to bring it towards its opposite and find harmony,” said the creative director.

As previously mentioned, it was all about Englishness with an Italian accent: British style icons such as tartans and tailored pieces, along with signature Gucci motifs, underwent reinterpretation. Plaids were transformed into intricate, embroidered bead fringes, forming bold graphic patterns.
