This Tuesday (5th), Paris Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear season came to a close—and it couldn’t have been better: Chanel and Miu Miu stood out. At Chanel, there was a tribute to Deauville, a city beloved by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, while Miu Miu presented a perfect mix of childhood and adulthood themes (oh, and the comeback of skinny jeans!).

Discover the highlights!

Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection pays homage to the timeless elegance of Deauville, a place cherished by Gabrielle Chanel and the inspiration behind her iconic style.

Under the creative vision of Virginie Viard, the collection captures the romantic ambiance of Deauville, drawing from its ever-changing skies with vibrant and pastel hues, complemented by rich tones of brown and gold lamé.

Inspired by the cinematic charm of Claude Lelouch’s film “A Man and a Woman,” set in Deauville, Viard crafts long, romantic silhouettes that capture the essence of a blossoming love story.

Symbolizing Chanel’s origins as a milliner in Deauville, the Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection features hats with turned-back brims reminiscent of sun hats, while modern interpretations of Chanel’s revolutionary jersey pieces blend seamlessly with contemporary knitwear and effortlessly chic tweed ensembles.

Skinny jeans are making a comeback! Yes, you read that correctly. According to Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection, these tight trousers are once again fashionable.

“A vocabulary of clothing, from childhood to adulthood. The Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2024 collection by Miuccia Prada draws inspiration from the span and scope of people’s lives, its shifting clothing types reflective of the development of character, both personal and universal,” state the brand notes. The collection evokes childhood memories with intentionally shrunken clothes, featuring short sleeves and rounded shoes reminiscent of those worn in younger years. In contrast, adulthood is represented through accessories like gloves, handbags, brooches, and tailored suits, including the classic little black dress.

Childhood’s carefree and playful spirit is captured in the collection by mixing different styles of clothing, such as pairing pajamas with regular clothes or combining conventional items with unconventional ones, symbolizing a delightful breaking of fashion rules.
