In its long-awaited return to New York Fashion Week after the initial period of the pandemic, the Libertine fashion brand presented with great prominence its Spring/Summer 2024 collections, both for women’s and men’s clothing, at The Gallery at Spring Studios last night.
With Johnson Hartig leading the creativity of design, the long-awaited SS24 collection certainly dazzled with Hartig’s latest creations.
Hartig, the Creative Director of Libertine fashion brand, is recognized for his playful approach and talent to employ vibrant colors, bold prints and unique materials in his creations. Throughout his trajectory from the launch of Libertine in 2001 to the present day, Hartig has continued to innovate in the ready-to-wear fashion market, for both men and women.
For Libertine’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, Hartig found inspiration in the iconic American sportswear from the 1930s to the 1970s. This season is marked by fresh and light tones, with a special emphasis on red, white and blue. The collection features a wide variety of patterns, including striking prints influenced by 18th-century elements, such as Chelsea plates, which blend surreally with crystal details and sterling silver embroidery, creating a contemporary and protective tribal feel.
Throughout the collection, colorful florals take center stage, evoking the joy and vitality of nature, with references to birds, bees and infinite insects. Maintaining the distinctive identity of Libertine, cascading hearts in red, white and hot pink colors decorate the pieces, while hand-screened collages incorporate drawings, photographs and texts, creating an effect reminiscent of Rauschenberg’s work, resulting in a truly captivating and unique collection.
