Veronica Leoni takes the lead at the brand
Calvin Klein is coming back to the runways after appointing Veronica Leoni, former design director at The Row and founder of Quira, as its new creative director.
This move aims to rejuvenate the American brand, which has not had a creative director or held a runway show since Raf Simons left in 2018. Leoni’s debut collection for Calvin Klein is set for Fall 2025, in February.
Despite some success with direct-to-consumer channels, Calvin Klein has faced challenges due to the decline of US department stores and outlet malls, as well as difficulties in the premium denim market.
The brand’s revenue grew by 3% to $3.9 billion in fiscal year 2023. Calvin Klein discontinued its runway “Collection” and “By Appointment” red carpet line in 2018.
Leoni brings a wealth of experience from her time at Jil Sander, Celine, Moncler, and The Row, along with her recognition as a finalist for the LVMH Prize for Emerging Designers last year. She “will merge her deep industry expertise with the modern aesthetic of Calvin Klein to design the ultimate representation of the brand,” PVH said.
