The first Monday of May has brought the fashion’s Super Bowl back into the scene
The most important night in fashion just took place on Monday (6th). Met Gala 2024 outfits brought together A-list celebrities to support the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Alongside Anna Wintour, this year’s co-chairs for fashion’s Super Bowl were Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth.
This year’s exhibition theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the dress code is titled “The Garden of Time.” As a result, attendees were expected to wear outfits featuring flowers and references to time.
Vintage outfits made quite a showing, chosen by Zendaya, Kendall Jenner, Iris Law, Emily Ratajkowski, and Fabiola Beracasa Beckman, with dresses sourced directly from their respective brands’ archives.
Nicole Kidman, Lana Del Rey, Emma Chamberlain, and Zendaya were some of the celebrities who had their dresses inspired by vintage designs.
“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” – The well-known quote from Miranda Priestly, portrayed by Meryl Streep in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada,” likely came to mind for fashionistas and style enthusiasts as they saw some of the looks from the Met Gala 2024 outfits.
Florals adorned many of the evening’s dresses through paintings, embroideries, and 3D appliqués. Some of our favorites are Gigi Hadid wearing Thom Browne, Jessica Biel in Tamara Ralph, Dove Cameron wearing Diesel, Eiza Gonzalez in Del Core, Demi Lovato in Atelier Prabal Gurung, Kim Kardashian in Maison Margiela, Demi Moore in Harris Reed and Rebecca Hall in Danielle Frankel.
Swarovski shined through all the Met Gala. Five sparkling dresses signed by the brand were spotted at the event, in Karlie Kloss, Irina Shayk, Giovanna Engelbert, Imaan Hammam, and Anok Yai.
The technique and reference to the passage of time were masterfully executed in the dresses worn by Elle Fanning and Tyla, both from Balmain. Elle Fanning’s dress resembled glass, achieved through resin applied to a thin layer of chiffon, while Tyla wore a sand-covered dress adorned with crystals, referencing an hourglass.
Loewe dominated this Met Gala 2024 outfits, appearing 14 times on the red (or, more accurately, green) carpet. Anna Wintour, Greta Lee, Ayo Edebiri, Ariana Grande, Lauren Santo Domingo, Ambika Mod, and Alison Oliver were some of the celebrities who wore the brand last night, with a special mention for Taylor Russell, who wore a wooden corset dress.
