This Tuesday (17th), Milan Fashion Week kicked off, showcasing collections from major brands such as Fendi, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Prada, and Dolce & Gabbana. The event, presenting the Spring/Summer 2025 ready-to-wear collections, will run until next Monday (September 23). Paris is the next and final city of the fashion week season.
On the first day, Fendi took the spotlight, launching its centennial celebrations. Designed by Kim Jones, the Spring/Summer 2025 ready-to-wear collection featured fringes, transparency, lace, embroidery, and crocodile texture. The color palette ranged from classic black, white, gray, brown, and beige to soft pink and baby blue. With pieces ranging from micro to long, the collection was presented around a pink cube.
Inspired by 1925, when Fendi was founded, the brand described the collection as “bringing together the worlds of ready-to-wear and couture, the hand- and machine-made, eveningwear and daywear, in an elevation and celebration of the everyday.”
Marni presented its new collection at its Milan atelier, with a runway circling three pianos played by Dev Hynes, Sharleen Chidiac, and Adam Tendler. The Spring/Summer 2025 collection focused on the search for beauty, featuring tight pants and knits, broad square jackets with structured shoulders, and balloon skirts adorned with light fabrics resembling feathers.
Colors like black, white, green, beige, yellow, blue, pink, and red shared the stage with 1950s-inspired floral prints and delicately embroidered evening dresses. Rhinestone roses bloomed on cotton leaves that swayed with movement. Some looks featured literary pages and Dante Alighieri’s profile printed on T-shirts, with all models wearing a variety of hats.
Alberta Ferretti closed the first day by presenting her Spring/Summer 2025 collection at the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia. Known for her flowy chiffon dresses, Ferretti embraced the boho trend, bringing back her signature style. In addition to the chiffon dresses, the collection included versatile cotton pieces for everyday wear, such as tailored suits and relaxed dresses.
Standout pieces included a strapless dress in vibrant orange with vertical pleat details. Petals and leaves adorned some dresses, while Ferretti avoided excessive sparkle, opting for more delicate embellishments.
