MNMAL, led by Flavio Gamaum, made its debut on the São Paulo Fashion Week runway, offering a fresh take on contemporary minimalism. Founded in 2022, the brand was created with the goal of delivering essential, practical, and excess-free pieces designed for everyday urban life. With roots in Maringá (Paraná), Flavio grew up surrounded by his family’s sewing machines and, despite not having formal fashion training, developed his creative skills through work in the commercial market and streetwear segment.

At the show held at JK Iguatemi, MNMAL proved that simplicity doesn’t equate to monotony. The brand explored new directions, expanding its traditionally sober color palette to include more vivid—yet still discreet—tones and introducing new textures and materials, such as light-washed denim, straight-cut sweatpants, classic plaids, and technical fabrics like nylon and taffeta.

The women’s segment also gained more prominence, with fluid pieces that comfortably move between genders. MNMAL embraced the 2000s trend by incorporating bags in various sizes—from micro to oversized—to complement its minimalist looks.

A major highlight was the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Many pieces were crafted from repurposed fabrics from MNMAL’s own archive, reaffirming its upcycling practices. Additionally, MNMAL announced a partnership with Vicunha to use materials like Pacito Regen, a denim made from regeneratively grown cotton and manufactured with processes that reduce chemical use. The collection reinforces the idea that minimalism can be both innovative and conscious without losing its timeless essence. MNMAL’s debut at SPFW not only introduces a new name to the Brazilian fashion scene but also signals an evolution: a minimalist fashion that engages with sustainability, technology, and new consumer behaviors.
