Designers in 2023 thought out of the box in their creations. Fictional characters, the universe, and even a microscope inspired creative directors this year. The past 365 days were marked by a fusion of nostalgia, forward-thinking, and technological designs, giving us chills and anticipating the next groundbreaking item to buy.

Big Red Boots were a hit back in the beginning of 2023. We saw it all over our Instagram feeds and streets in New York City. Inspired by the fictional character Astro Boy, from a 1952 cartoon, the 3D boots are designed by Brooklyn-based label MSCHF.

Coperni is always looking for inspiration, even if it is outside of our world. The French brand launched a limited version of Swipe Bag made out of meteorite – yes, you have read it right. The meteorite Swipe Bag is exclusively handmade and the rock can come from different locations, depending on where the meteorite fell on Earth.

Nicholas Ghesquiere left fashionistas jaw-dropping when the Illusion Boot entered the fall-winter 2023 runway of Louis Vuitton. Inspired by the Surrealist movement, it seems like a black high heel matched with a white sock.

Still talking about Louis Vuitton and MSCHF, a few months back we were surprised by a bag described as smaller than a grain of sea salt and fine enough to fit through the eye of a needle. The microscopic version of Louis Vuitton’s On The Go bag was exclusively developed for Just Phriends auction, promoted by Pharrell Williams.
