Camille Miceli, the creative director of Pucci, recently put on a show that left guests in awe. The show was held in Florence, the birthplace of the Pucci label, and took place on the banks of the river Arno at the Canottieri di Firenze rowing association. Against the stunning backdrop of the Ponte Vecchio and the full moon, the audience was excited to see the new collection.

The collection was inspired by the moon, with Miceli referencing Emilio Pucci’s patch design for the Apollo 15 moon mission in 1971. Miceli worked on translucent, iridescent crackle textures, with shimmering fabrics rendered into round-shaped balloon silhouettes, paying homage to the Space-Age look of the 1960s. The collection included wardrobe-ready separates, minidresses with raffia feather appliqués, body-con knit looks, and laser-cut washed denim.

Miceli’s vision for Pucci is to position it as the go-to resort label while opening it up to a wider, more diverse, and younger fan base. The show’s audience included American rappers Ice Spice and Saint JHN, Korean singer Jeon So-min, and Wednesday actress Emma Meyers. The show’s finale featured sexy catsuits in luscious stretch jerseys, printed with archival patterns Miceli had re-colored in a new eye-popping palette. These pieces would be perfect for a stage performance.

Air was another theme that Miceli explored in the collection. The first look was a flowing parachute-like caftan printed in the Pucci pesce motifs, worn by a model standing on a canoe slowly making its way on the Arno to the catwalk set on the banks. Miceli is known for her love of coup-de-théâtre, and this opening look was no exception.

Miceli is a designer who doesn’t want to be labeled, and she doesn’t want to be stuck in a format. Her vision for Pucci celebrates the label’s colorful, optimistic joie de vivre while keeping its jet-set allure. With her talent for mise en scène and her ability to emulsify the experience with highly enjoyable fun, we can only look forward to more surprises from this ebullient designer.
