It is an opportunity to get an item from the iconic British designer.
Vivienne Westwood’s wardrobe is going up for auction later this month. It is the perfect opportunity for the fans of the British designer (who died in 2022) to access more than 200 of her personal items. The punk fashion pioneer became famous for her provocative designs and stunning bridal dresses. Some of the wardrobe items put up for auction were curated by Andreas Kronthaler, her husband and the creative director of the brand.
In honor of Westwood’s outspoken support for the planet and her dedication to human rights and free speech, the sale’s proceeds will be given to organizations she championed, like The Vivienne Foundation, Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), and Greenpeace.
“Her deep interest in intellectual and political ideas informed her natural skill in fashion design, where she became one of the very few true originators. There will simply never be another Vivienne Westwood,” said Christie’s.
Fans will be able to get their hands on looks, garments, shoes, and jewelry from Vivienne Westwood at a live auction in London on June 25, and an accompanying online sale between June 14 and 28, hosted by the auction house Christie’s.
A public, free exhibition of some pieces will take place at Christie’s auction house in London from Friday through June 24, according to a release.
