Hillary Taymour’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection shows that feminine energy is fighting for what you believe in?
“Femininity is not a set of instructions. It’s a mess of beautiful contradiction – fierce and soft, dark and illuminating, private and protective, unapologetically visible and glam. Claim your space as a way to make room for others.”
For Hillary Taymour, fashion has always been more than just clothes—it’s a movement. Known for its commitment to sustainability and social activism, Collina Strada’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection dives deep into the complexities of femininity. Arriving at the Meatpacking District warehouse, where the show took place, you were instantly met with the carefree energy of little girls playing, running, and singing—setting the perfect tone for a presentation rooted in the essence of girlhood.
In a world where women’s rights seem increasingly threatened, Taymour uses fashion as a shield. With oversized bug-eye sunglasses to “hide our tears” and layers upon layers for protection, the “Fempire” collection addresses the turmoil faced by minorities, especially women, in the U.S. post-election. The collection isn’t just about style—it’s about imagining a matriarchal world where diversity isn’t just accepted but celebrated.
The collection’s biggest strength? The seamless fusion of sustainability with a playful, nostalgic nod to girlhood. Mesh, organza, and chiffon balanced oversized wool and cotton pieces, while textured ruffles made a statement from head to toe—right down to the PUMA Mostro sneakers that capped off the look.
Taymour pushed the boundaries of femininity, experimenting with shapes, bold patterns, chaotic plaids, and exaggerated volumes. A “girl dinner” tee, florals, lace, and sheer sleeves delivered cool, club-ready vibes, but it was the upcycled wedding gowns that truly stole the show. As a brand that prioritizes sustainability, we were hoping for even more upcycled pieces to walk the runway, but these dresses were a powerful nod to Collina Strada’s ethos.
Rejecting the narrow standards set by traditional European fashion shows, Collina Strada stands firm in its commitment to diversity. Models of every age, size, and beauty graced the runway, making the show not only memorable but also a bold statement for inclusivity. Through their craft, Taymour and her team are proving that fashion can—and should—stand for something bigger.
